In the end of 2018, Estonian Water Works Association organized a seminar “Operators’ Experience” for the water and wastewater plant operators from its member companies.

BSR WATER

The IWAMA project joined the BSR WATER — Platform on Integrated Water Cooperation. The platform project funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme aims to enhance continuous cross-sectoral cooperation in smart water management providing a possibility for transnational experience exchange, sharing of good practices and solutions, as well as delivering comprehensive overview of the current and future policy contexts and their impacts in the BSR countries.

In October, one of the most active IWAMA partners Estonian Water Works Association organised a study visit to Madrid, Spain to exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices with colleagues beyond the Baltic Sea Region.

The Baltic Water Works Conference was held in Palanga, Lithuania, on 23–25 May 2018. Discussion topics included drinking water risk assessment, changes in the legislation, sludge treatment and sharing of experiences in the operation of water and wastewater networks.

Two-year study program for wastewater treatment operators was launched in Järvamaa Vocational Training Centre in Estonia in September 2017.

Study tour to Portugal

The Estonian Water Works Association goes to Portugal to learn the technologies applied there, as well as national regulations and water management structure.

Estonian national knowledge-based communitiy EVEL (Estonian Waterworks Association) shares experience on organizing a piloting seminar “Operators’ Experiences”.

The Estonian Waterworks Association (EVEL) is currently working on the strategy for the water management in Estonia, and the IWAMA project is important for this process.
